My Current Situation

My name is Troy Griggs and I’m a Graphics Editor (meaning I report, write, design and code) for The New York Times’ Graphics Department.

Originally from Gainesville, Florida, my first internship-turned-job was at Ron Sachs Communications (now the Sachs Media Group) in Tallahassee, FL. I moved back to my hometown to work at The Gainesville Sun for a year before moving to New York to work at The New York Times in a number of roles.

After eight years at The NYT, I left for London to work for The Guardian as a Special Projects Editor for their interactive news team, Guardian Visuals.

After two years in London, I came back to New York (and The New York Times) to my take on my current role.

When I’m not doing journalism, I try to devote time to doing public service work.
